Maps delineating the inventories and surveys of the town’s private water supplies, stormwater infrastructures, water resources, and stream conditions are now available. Colchester Base Map:This map illustrates the roads and surface waters in the town. Colchester Base Map (1.8MB PDF) Stormwater:Land Use: This map is based on an interpretation of the 2004 LiDAR imagery data conducted by the University of Vermont’s Spatial Analysis Lab for most of Chittenden County. The information has seven land use classes: Tree Canopy, Grass or Shrub, Bare Soil, Water, Buildings, Roads, and Other Paved Surfaces. The town has 8% of its Land Use in the built-on classes. Colchester Land Use Map (1.08MB PDF) Impervious Surface by Subwatershed: This map illustrates the percentage of impervious surface by subwatershed. An impervious surface does not allow water to pass through it (for example, pavement) and can cause water quality problems. The data came from further interpretation of the 2004 LiDAR imagery data conducted by the University of Vermont's Spatial Analysis Lab for most of Chittenden County. The following Land Use classes were assigned impervious class: Buildings, Roads, and Other Paved Surfaces. Colchester Impervious Surface Map (484KB PDF) Land Cover: This map illustrates land cover from the 2009 Land Cover for Vermont developed by the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). There are 27 detailed land cover types classified within the town’s watersheds. Colchester Land Cover Map (1.27MB PDF) Distributed Infrastructure Inventory MapsPrivate Water Supply: This map provides information from the summer of 2009 inventory on the location of properties that are serviced by Fire Districts and those that have private water supplies and their type: well, spring or lake sources.
Stormwater Infrastructure Map (389KB PDF) Water Resources MapsWatershed and Subwatershed Map: This map is the newest delineation of high resolution small watersheds using LiDAR data. The watersheds have been adjusted to reflect the storm drainage network. Colchester Watershed Map (3.4MB PDF) Stream Conditions Assessment MapsThis series of maps summarize information derived from the Stream Geomorphic Assessments conducted by the State of Vermont's River Management Program. This is the first time this information has been assembled into one database. Stream Geomorphic Assessments Description (71KB PDF) provides a brief summary of and link to the state's program. Habitat Rating: This map illustrates stream assessment for each stream/river reach for habitat condition. Channel Evolution Stage: This map illustrates stream assessment for each stream/river reach for stage in stream/river channel evolution. SCAT Channel Evolution Map (1.98MB PDF) Geomorphic Condition: This map illustrates stream assessments for each stream/river reach for geomorphic condition. SCAT Geomorphic Condition Map (1.98MB PDF) Stream Sensitivity: This map illustrates stream assessment by each stream/river reach for stream sensitivity. SCAT_Stream Sensitivity Map (1.98MB PDF) On-Site Wastewater CapacityLand Summary of On-Site System Suitability: This map depicts the land that is suitable to support on-site wastewater based on NRCS soils maps and other environmental factors. Land Summary of On-Site System_Suitability (1MB PDF) Parcel Summary of On-Site System Suitability: This map depicts the parcels within Colchester that have land suitable to support an on-site wastewater system. Parcel Summary for On-Site System Suitability (1.18MB PDF) On-Site System Limitations at Current Conditions: This map depicts the current development in Colchester and highlights whether the parcel appears to have suitable land to support an on-site wastewater system for the development on the site. Limitations at Current Conditions Conventional (1.25MB PDF) On-Site System Limitations at Build-Out: This map depicts Colchester at build-out and highlights whether the parcel appears to have suitable land to support an on-site wastewater system. |
